I live in Devizes with my husband and son Sekav, who started in the Reception class in 2015. I grew up near to All Cannings and work for a local business in Honeystreet.  I became a Parent Governor because I wanted to support the school in their decision making processes and hopefully help to maintain the excellent standard of this school.

I have been a parent governor since early 2013 and my son has just left Year 6 to move on to secondary school. After 30 years working as an accountant in the M.O.D, I took an opportunity to take early retirement to spend more time with my son.   I work as a part-time volunteer Teaching Assistant in the school working alongside all year groups.  I am passionate about the education of all the children at the school in all its forms and about helping them to reach their full potential. I believe, having worked as a volunteer at the school and as a parent, I have a some understanding of the educational needs and desires of the children and parents respectively and crucially the resources available to meet these.

Having renovated two barns in the village, my family and I moved to All Cannings over two years ago. We spent the previous twelve years living locally in Marlborough and prior to that lived and worked for four years in California. After working in electronic publishing for over fifteen years, I wanted a change of focus. I retrained completing an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching and PGCE degrees. I now teach part-time in a local primary school and tutor pupils at home.

I have always been interested in giving some of my time and energy to the role of school governor and as I recently became a churchwarden at All Saints, it seemed the right time to become a foundation governor for All Cannings School. I have high expectations of church schools and am interested in helping All Cannings to integrate Christian values throughout school life.

My particular interests are curriculum-based and in differentiating learning so that every pupil reaches their potential and enjoys their learning journey. I hope to be able to contribute around school and help pupils to have the very best educational experience that they deserve.

I live on the outskirts of Devizes with my husband and our two daughters and currently work part-time for Intel Corporation.  We have lived in Wiltshire for 16 years, having moved away from a large city so that we could raise a family somewhere calmer and we love it here!

When the time came to select a school for our eldest daughter we were hugely impressed with All Cannings CE Primary School, especially the warm welcome we all received. Our two daughters now both attend All Cannings and I’m still as impressed and reassured by the dedication of the staff and how the children appear happy, motivated and respectful.

I volunteered to be a parent governor in order that I can help to build on the success of the school. The education system seems to be facing a myriad of changes and governing bodies are playing an increasing and crucial part in shaping these changes. I hope to be able to use the skills and experience I have gained in my career in marketing and communications management, across both the public and private sector, to contribute to the work of our board of governors

I'm a parent governor who started in September 2016. I live on the East side of Devizes with my wife Rebecca and our two daughters Daisy and Evelyn. Daisy is in Class 2 and Evelyn started school in 2018. I have two "grown up" daughters Jennifer and Holly - Jennifer is just finishing an MSc and Holly has just started an undergraduate course.

When we were looking for a school for Daisy, we were lucky to have a range of good schools to choose from but All Cannings stood out for us because of the focus on the emotional development of the students alongside their academic development.  When we visited the school the culture and ethos was very apparent in the material on display and when talking to the staff and students.

My motivation for becoming a governor is that I appreciate the educational opportunities I've had and would like to give something back. Today's education environment is very different to the one I went through and the one Jennifer and Holly went through - I've got a lot to learn and I'm looking forward to working with the school to make a positive contribution.

I joined All Cannings School in September 1993 and liked it so much that I’m still here 26  years later! During this time, I’ve taught most year groups (just Year 4 left to tick off) and have been subject leader for Literacy, PE, Science and Collective Worship. I am now Deputy Head and teach Year 1 and Year 2 in Class 2.

I feel privileged to have been part of our school’s journey from four classes on a split site to our lovely new building with its improved facilities. However, it’s the people – both adults and children – and their relationships that make All Cannings School so special.

New national initiatives and the expansion of my own role and responsibilities provide me with continued professional development and the skills required to play a part in supporting and guiding our school towards a future which provides our pupils with the best education possible.
